Joe Hemleben

With over a decade of experience in both trial and appellate practice, Joe Hemleben founded Hemleben Law Firm with the goal of providing aggressive representation to clients at all stages of the legal process.  Before founding this firm, Joe served as an Assistant District Attorney for the Hinds County District Attorney’s Office. There, Joe honed his trial skills prosecuting felonies in the highest volume jurisdiction in the State.  At any given time, Joe’s criminal docket consisted of over 200 felony cases at various stages and postures.    In addition to his courtroom duties, Joe also served on the leadership team as the Director of the Appellate Division, representing the State of Mississippi in post-trial matters and providing support to other trial teams involved in complex litigation.

In addition to serving as a prosecutor at the trial level, Joe has extensive experience as an appellate advocate. Following law school, Joe had the distinction of serving as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Court of Appeals for the State of Mississippi.  After completing his clerkship, Joe served as a Special Assistant Attorney General in the Criminal Litigation Division of the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office. As an appellate prosecutor, Joe represented the State of Mississippi in criminal felony appeals and post-conviction proceedings before the Mississippi Supreme Court and the Court of Appeals for the State of Mississippi.

Finally, Joe’s military background provides him with a unique perspective, discipline, and drive. As a former United States Marine, Joe is a veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom, having served abroad from 2006-2007. Presently, Joe is a JAG Officer in the United States Air Force Reserve where he serves as the Deputy Staff Judge Advocate for 403d Wing, at Keesler Air Force Base.
